Her experience includes directing & assistant directing for various film and theatre productions. Highlights include “Just A Fling”, “Mall Stories of the 80’s”, “A Rock Sails By”, and PSA’s for the organization “To Inform Families First.” Ava has also done hair & makeup and costume design, along with being the producer on several of the projects she’s completed. Ava Abreu is also a Graphic Designer, creating designs from movie posters & call sheets, to sticker designs and brochures.

”To Inform Families First,” 2026

To Inform Families First (TIFF) is a Florida-based organization that advocates for the public to register their emergency contact information with Florida Highway Safety, an initiative that began after the founder’s daughter passed away in a tragic car accident.Having established the emergency contact initiative in Florida, TIFF continues to branch out to other states, expanding their reach till all 50 states have the same.SCF film students were given the opportunity to create two PSAs for TIFF, which will have a public screening in October 2026.

Don't Check The Clock, 2024

A short film project about how we never seem to have enough time in the morning, the short follows a girl late for school, with a personified clock-companion who takes it upon itself to rush her along.

In Two, 2023

Student short film created by Booker High School students as part of the Film program.
The Film Visual Performing Arts (VPA) is a rigorous 4-year program that equips students with the foundations of filmmaking.In Two was Ava Abreu’s debut film, joining the program in her senior year. The film was screened as part of the All American High School Film Festival in 2024.

When an unidentified flying object is sighted heading toward Earth, astrophysicist Dr. Lynn Cummings sets out to monitor the foreign object, whilst struggling to save her prestigious reputation.As assistant director, Ava coached and helped block actors, and created the outer space-inspired brooch and key elements of the hair, makeup, and costume design for the character pictured.

Story Street Project with SCF Theatre, February 2026

An improv project performed by SCF theatre students as part of the Early Learning Coalition’s “Storybook Street” event that distributed 20 free books to over 400 families. This event highlighted the importance of reading for children, bringing to life their favorite storybook characters.
